Starting tomorrow I am going off the grid until the 23rd.
No twitter. No Facebook. No Blog. No work. No cell.
Several reasons.
1) Vacation and limited access
2) Need to unwind and mentally regroup
3) Next few months will be crazy and I need to be ready
4) I just need a break
I’m looking forward to the break to be honest as I think it will totally refocus me.
My question for you today.
Do you ever go off the grid? What were the benefits? Challenges for you?

It is refreshing to ‘Go off the grid”! We did (hubby and I) for three weeks 2009, to outback Africa (check out my blog to see why). It was alittle unnerving at first, but really appreciated and needed. Hoping to do the same again soon, but maybe a restful holiday somewhere else this time. Our lives get so wound up with technology, work and living in general! Good question, by the way.

I actually do quite often, but for short spurts of time. The only time I was off the grid for a long period was when I lived in Africa and that was not by choice! LOL I find that when I do it here and there for a few days it helps me in the long run. Plus, being that internet is the only way of communicating with my family and friends back home, if I take off for too long my parents start worrying about me. HAVE FUN!!! You’ll love the break
Enjoy your break. Sometimes it’s necessary to get ourselves and our minds refocused, and going offline is a good way to start. The internet is addictive.
I go off the grid quite literally at least twice a year when DH and I head for our cabin. It’s miles beyond the reach of electricity or cell phone service and life instantly becomes simpler when we arrive there. (Well, mentally simpler but more physical… chopping wood, carrying water from the creek, etc.) I love the freedom of being out of touch, the lack of schedules and lowered stress level, and the uninterrupted one-on-one time with my hubby and whatever other family is there with us. The challenge is getting caught up when I return home.
Good for you man! Enjoy it. I will make sure the Internet keeps working while you are gone.
