Thanks to Mo for her post on Israeli Salad, I started thinking about food.
Now, I am a foodie. Love food, all types of food. If there is a new recipe I can try…blammo! I’m there.
What I really wonder though is that if I had one last meal to choose, what would it be?
Chicken fajitas? A good burger? Maybe some deep fried oysters. Or, a shrimp po-boy. Gumbo?
It is really hard for me to say.
On the desert side of things it is easy for me. A yellow cake with my mother’s chocolate frosting (special recipe that I am a master at making). Seriously done deal on that one.
Here is what I want to know…It is your last meal..What do you choose to eat?

That is a tough one. I am the picky eater, but when I like something, I like it a lot. I think if I had to pick my last meal it would definitely be steak. Definitely a filet cooked medium to medium rare. And I would want all I could eat.

Mine would definitely involve salmon, my favorite protein for sure! I had a great salmon dish with blackberry sauce about 10 years ago or so at Wildwood in Portland. It was seriously the best meal of my life, I can still remember the taste of that first bite….it was to die for! I would want that to be my last meal. Followed by any chocolate/peanut butter concoction for dessert!!
BTW: did you pick the green meanie avatar that shows up when I post a comment? How can I pick something a little more, ummmm….flattering???

Wildwood is amazing!! I’ve been twice. Next time you are in Ptld. you should put it on your list of places to eat, it’s definitely one of the city’s best restaurants. I think they have published a cookbook, too. I’m sure there are some great recipes in there.

Hmmm… my last meal? I don’t have to worry about cholesterol or calories? Then I guess my choice would be a pasta dish called Chicken Paliotti… it’s fettucini in a white wine cream sauce with sliced chicken breast, bits of bacon, red onion, tomatoes, mushrooms, green and red peppers. It’s the specialty of the house at a local Italian restaurant in Maple Ridge, BC.

Is it weird that I have already determined this a long time ago? Is that fatalistic, or a simple unhealthy focus on food? Oh well…
Gates Barbecue (Kansas City), a red creme soda and a slice of apple pie.

SHRIMP. Watch Forrest Gump & listen to Bubba. Every combination, as Bubba describes, is fine with me. Blackened Mahi & Steamed Oysters neck in neck for 2nd place with Key Lime Pie for dessert.
